Guest guest
Hi everybody, This coming Saturday there are two must-see events: the annual Jazz Festival in San Jose, and an encore performance of "Improvised Bawdy Shakespeare" in Santa Cruz. Here is a sketch of the plan, you're welcome to attend all or part of the day, just let me know in your email rsvp: 1) Meet at 1pm near the Fairmont Hotel in SJ (see www.sanjosejazz.org/planwk.html for driving directions and festival map); 2) See free jazz, eat food, drink drinks (I have "special connections" to get free food and drink at one of the sponsor booths, even though it's not ALL vegetarian) until about 5pm. There are eight different stages, and we'll be able to choose from among about 25 acts through 5pm (see www.sanjosejazz.org/fsched.html for the complete musical line-up). 3) Carpool to Santa Cruz (or meet up with those who can't make the jazz fest) and have a reasonably-priced and delicious vegetarian dinner about 6pm at Asian Rose on 1116 Soquel St (close to the improv theatre; call 831-423-7906 for directions) or possibly Dharma's (farther away) if they can't handle us. 4) Arrive at the Louden Nelson Center, 301 Center St. in downtown Santa Cruz in time for the 8pm and only showing of "Improvised Bawdy Shakespeare" by the Un-Scripted Theater Company. I saw these guys in April, and they're great at turning innocent suggestions from the audience into comedy. See www.un-scripted.com/shows/index.htm for info and a map. Admission price: tickets are available only at the door for $10, or from the Un-Scripted website in advance for $1 more. I will purchase tickets online for those who would like, and others must take the chance that they won't sell out. 5) After the show, head back home, or for those so inclined find something else to do in Santa Cruz. This promises to be a packed, fun, yet low-cost day of fine entertainment. I hope you're able to join us! Email me at glenn_miracle by the end of the business day Friday to get the final rsvp itinerary . See you there! Glenn M.
Guest guest
Hi: I'm guessing parking downtown will be a hassle due to the jazz fetival. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to park? Is it easy to get there by public transport? I don't think Caltrain runs on the weekends. Thanks, Dipti > 1) Meet at 1pm near the Fairmont Hotel in SJ (see www.sanjosejazz.org/planwk.html for driving directions and festival map); > > 2) See free jazz, eat food, drink drinks (I have " special connections " to get free food and drink at one of the sponsor booths, even though it's not ALL vegetarian) until about 5pm.
