Put on your walking shoes and take steps toward compassion for farmed animals today by participating in Oakland's Walk for Farm Animals -- a fundraiser for Farm Sanctuary. In fact, the money Farm Sanctuary used to purchase land for their first sanctuary (in NY) was funded by money raised by the walks! Oakland's walk will take place on October 18th (Saturday) at 11:30 at Splash Pad Park (a new park being built across the street from the Grand Lake Theatre). IF YOU'RE INTERESTED, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR MAILING ADDRESS SO I CAN SEND YOU A WALK PACK!! Farm Sanctuary is a national, non-profit animal protection organization. Each year we rescue, rehabilitate and provide lifelong care for hundreds of animals rescued from factory farms, stockyards and slaughterhouses. In addition to operating the shelters, we work to gain legal protection for animals used in food production and to raise public awareness about factory farm cruelty and cruelty-free alternatives. The Walk for Farm Animals helps fund Farm Sanctuary's rescue and protection campaigns. Slaughter and justice cannot dwell together." ~Isaac Bashevis Singer"Nonviolence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution.
