Guest guest
Hi all, This should be an exciting event! This is a full-moon hike up Mission Peak. I've checked the charts and sunset is 7:30 and moonrise is scheduled for 8:03. With the setting and rising so close together, we should be in for a real treat at the top! Meet at 7:00 at the trailhead. We'll head up at 7:15 sharp. It should take us about an hour to reach the top so we'll see the last hoorah of the sunset and we can enjoy the full moon with a snack. WHAT TO BRING: Water A snack to enjoy at the top A flashlight, preferably with a red filter (more on this in a bit) WHAT TO WEAR: Bring layers. The hike up should be challenging but you'll want something warm to toss on at the top. It will be chilly. HOW TO GET THERE: Take 880 or 680 to Fremont. Exit on Mission Blvd and go east. About 1/2 mile east of 680, turn right on Stanford Ave and follow it until it dead-ends at the trailhead. WHY A RED FILTER? Some of us may want to hike down by moonlight. The red filter will prevent flashlights from interfering with our night vision. It doesn't have to be anything sophisticated. Red cellophane from Michael's or a similar crafts store and a rubber band would do just fine. I'll try to bring some with me. PLEASE RSVP to me via email by Sunday morning or via phone by 6:30pm Sunday. You can just show up the trailhead, too but I'd like to have a headcount and I'd like to head up the peak at 7:15pm sharp. I hope to see you all there! Cheers, Matthew (831) 239-2103 SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.
