The first film in this weekly series of award-winning documentaries will be " Global Food Banquet, " a 50 minute look into the causes of hunger and the impact of multi-national agri- business on food production and farms throughout the world. Winner of the Vermont International Film Festival and the Cine Golden Eagle Award, this film also shows how a multi-national network of family farms is growing, as small farmers both in the US and the developing world are coming to see their common need to preserve their land ownership and reject the chemical-intensive methods of corporate agriculture. The film also looks at the challenges of genetically engineered foods and examines the underlying causes of hunger in a world where food is plentiful. The film starts at 7:30 pm (non-GE popcorn available!) and will be followed by a discussion til 9:15. Tickets are $3-$5, based on ability to pay. Hope you can join us!
