Guest guest
Several of you have expressed interest in learning more about my volunteer work at the Wildlife Center, and our annual open-to-the-public day is coming up this Saturday, 5/3, from 10 am to 4 pm. If you are planning on going on the Tech Museum outing, you could stop by the Center beforehand (I plan to take part in both activities myself). See below for more information, and feel free to contact me with questions! Sarah Wildlife Center Celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a “Walk on the Wild Side†When: May 3, 2003Where: 3027 Penitencia Creek Road              (a few blocks east off Capital Ave. near Berryessa)              San Jose, CA 95132 San Jose, CA – The Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley (WCSV) is proud to announce its 10th anniversary! In celebration of this occasion, you and your family and friends are invited to join the Center’s staff and volunteers for an afternoon of fun, discovery, and a chance to “Walk on the Wild Side.†This event will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the WCSV’s Penitencia Creek Park location. Educational and informational booths will provide information on everything from what you do if you find an injured bird in your back yard, to an up-close and personal look at what happens behind the scenes during the wildlife rehabilitation process. One of the Center’s objectives is educational outreach, to help educate our communities about wildlife. Have you ever seen a barn owl? Are you curious about where baby opossums sleep? There will be four scheduled educational presentations featuring many live non-releasable North American species, such as animals such as an opossum, porcupine, barn owl and more. As well as our various booths and educational events, there will also be lots of fun activities for both adults and kids alike, a raffle, refreshments, as well as great merchandise and wildlife-related goodies to purchase. The event is free of charge, however, we are grateful for donations of our most frequently used supplies such as paper towels, unscented facial tissue, Feline Maintenance Science Diet (dry), Purina Cat Chow, and pedal garbage cans. The Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley is an independent, nonprofit organization established in 1993. WCSV is the largest wildlife rehabilitation center in Santa Clara County, and has provided high quality care and rehabilitation for over 45,000 local injured, sick and orphaned birds and mammals since its inception. For more information contact WCSV’s Director, Janet Alexander, at the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, 3027 Penitencia Creek Road, San Jose. Telephone: (408) 928-5850.  Website: www.wcsv.org.
