While quite accurate, it erred by 11.5 minutes per year from the solar calendar. This drift added up to about a week over the 1500 or so years it was in popular use. By the 16th century, the vernal equinox fell on March 12. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII advanced the calendar by 11 days and instituted another calendar reform so... The potluck is upon us!!!
