An exception is something like an overnight trip or an event which requires reservations and/or advance notice. In both cases you'll want to post weeks or months in advance. Lastly, always ask for RSVP's and a cute off date that you'll accept RSVP's by..This forces folks to make a decision whether or not to attend, lets you know know how many people will be attending your event, and is a courtesy that your guests should extend to you.
