It's time for another installment of the " free

TheatreWorks dress-rehearsal play performances " . This

one is called " Book of Days " . It's...

 

An extraordinary new play from the Pulitzer

Prize-winning author of Talley's Folly, this often

funny, boldly theatrical mystery unravels in a tiny

Missouri town dominated by a fundamentalist church and

a daring little theatre. In a whimsical tale of

integrity and deception, the theatre's leading lady

risks everything to explore a local tycoon's death,

exposing the fissure's beneath the facade of an Our

Town for our times. Contains mature language.

 

Those interested, please return email to me and we can

set up when to meet and if we want to get dinner (on

Castro St.?) beforehand. The play is at the Mtn. View

center for the Performing Arts on Castro@Mercy and

starts at 8. It's best to line up somewhere between 7

and 7:30. There is a free parking lot beneath the

theater.

 

So far we have seen " Ragtime " and " On Golden Pond " and

they were worth the cost of admission by far.
