Guest guest
Good evening all my lovely veggie friends! This is an attempt to do Dave a favor and actually inform you all of what happened at our meeting last Sunday. I may forget things, and - god forbid! - spread misinformation (though I think this is very unlikely), so if any other attendee has anything to add, please do. - We welcomed new members Joe and Miriam. They are both Jewish English teachers! - Our original plans to build a Web site have unfortunately fallen through. Are there any Web developers out there interested in tackling this project? This isn't a hot priority item, but it would be nice to have a Web site. - The possibility of having a newsletter was discussed. Again, this is not high priority and something we may want to think about later when we feel more established and everything. - I am supposed to have a flyer ready by the next meeting (and I will!). - We talked about communication issues and implementing a phone tree. I am sort of confused as to what the details are on this one. - Burger King has a new almost-vegan veggie burger! There is an interesting editorial on this subject in the current issue of Veg News (of which we all got a copy at the meeting). - I think there is a beach trip in the works (or am I completely tripping on this one?) - It would be nice to have a picnic or barbecue sometime in the summer. If we're going to barbecue, we want to find a park with a canopy. - As of now, there are six of us going to the Elvis Costello concert on May 21, and also some interest in passing out flyers and info at this event. I think it would make all sorts of good sense to organize a car pool to this event. I believe the gate opens at 5:30 so if you're going, you may want to chew on this one for a bit. If you're not going, but still would like to, I suggest you check out the Mountain Winery site and see if tickets are still available. We have bleacher seats at $55 each. - The potluck at Steve's house was a smashing success! We want to do more of these things. Anyone else interested in hosting a bash like this? - What's up with the education and social committees? Actually, I'd like to have a social committee meeting sometime in the next few weeks, maybe on a Wednesday night if that works (May 1 okay for anyone?) As for location, I MAY be willing to host the meeting at my studio apartment, depending on the number of attendees and whether any of them are allergic to cats. Otherwise, we can go to a coffee house again. This is all I can remember. Again, please feel free to add, anyone. Sarah
