South Bay Vegetarian Society Meeting Minutes: 3.24.02

 

 

 

Last Dinner of 3.24: Our dinner and business meeting were a smashing success, with close to 20 people showing up and some superb input.

By a vote taken via the listserve our official name is now, “The South Bay Vegetarian Society”.

The listserve has now been updated so that when members hit “reply” the email will be sent to the poster and NOT THE ENTIRE LISTSERVE J

Our ’s site on has also had our official name added to it. We are working to get photos from our last dinner posted to the site as permanent photos. Ron has posted a few photos from our last dinner.

Members are strongly recommended to use the daily digest option to so they will only get one email per day.

WEBSITE: We are continuing to gather information and ideas for our future home. Please email suggestions to Suz: suezinn

The potluck scheduled for 3.30 has been rescheduled for 4.6 due to Easter. Please see emails from “Steve” at: srabin regarding further details.

Meetings/dinners will now be held the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 5 P.M. of each month. Our next meeting/event will be at the Willow Glen Coffee Roasting Company http://www.coffeewillowglen.com/, 5PM, Sunday, 4.14.02.

Group Listing/Publicity: Our group will be listed in the May issue onward of Veg News, the Community section of the Mercury News on Sunday, and on Craig’s List + many other websites and listserves. Members are strongly encouraged to spread the word about the group via word of mouth, the web, email, or gathering emails at any social events they attend and turning them over to Dave (tantraguy2002) for addition to our listserve.

Paul/Suz: Group mission statement/charter. Please send to Phil for approval. Phil let Dave know when this done so I may post to the site.

Suz: Send out next meeting announcement/invitation.

The only sub-committee that seems to be currently active is the “Communication Team”. Social, Public Relations, and Education team members are strongly encouraged to meet on their own time and create agendas and activities. In order to keep this group functioning we need more leaders. At this point Phil, Dave, and Glenn Rosner are the unofficial folks who are leading the group. We also need more support people. Please email Dave at: tantraguy2002 or Phil: beckerhead if you’d like to be added to team, create a team, or get in touch with other members.

RON: Bring a sample flyer to the next dinner on the 14th. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS IN THIS AREA RON !!! As EARTH DAY is on the last weekend of April we want to have flyers that can be posted at the events taking place that weekend.

We regret that the first hour of our gatherings is devoted to business. As the groups moves beyond it's infancy and has enough structure and support this will change. This will be necessary for the next 2-3 meetings, at which point the business meetings will be reduced to once a month, perhaps completely separate from other events.

 

OUR INTENTION IS FUN, COMMUNITY, MAKING NEW FRIENDS, MAKING A DIFFERENCE AND LETTING ALL OF YOU HAVE YOUR SAY.

 

MEMBERS ARE STROGLY ENCOURAGED TO POST EVENTS TO THE LISTSERVE AND WE WARMLY WELCOME YOUR COMMENTS AND PARTICIPATION IN THE RUNNING OF THIS GROUP.
