Guest guest
This is another question which is kind of off topic as not cooking related, but it is celiac related, and I would really appreciate any thoughts any of you have. My mother has recently gone gluten free and managed to greatly improve long-standing IBS type symptoms that way. She was blood tested for celiac and came up negative - at the time she was wheat free but was eating rye. Strangely, since she has been eating gluten free she has noticed that her alopecia has gone. She has been troubled with it for years; as soon as one patch had grown back another would form. Now she is clear of it for the first time in years. I believe that alopecia and celiac are both autoimmune conditions - so I guess that's some kind of link. But I can't see why going gluten free should resolve the alopecia. Has anyone else noticed any link between celiac and alopecia? Or between celiac and any other autoimmune disease? Has anyone found going gluten free has helped a different autoimmune disease?
