Guest guest Posted January 2, 2003 Report Share Posted January 2, 2003 Dahl Bhat Burgers Source: Meatless Burgers by Louise Hagler Yeild: 6 burgers The exotic and tantalizing flacvors of Indain cuisine can now be enjoyed in a delicious burger. 1/2 cup chopped onions 2 cloves garlic, pressed 1 Tbs. oil 2 tsp. curry powder 1/2 tsp. cumin 1 1/2 cups cooked brown rice 1 cup cooked yellow or red lentils, drained 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 1 tsp. salt 1. Preheat the oven to 350F 2. Saute the onions and garlic in the il over low heat until transparent. Add the curry powder and cumin, and cook for another minute. 3. Mix all the ingredients together ina bowl until well blended, and form into burgers. 4. Arrange the burgers on an oiled baking sheet, and bake for 15 mins on each side until browned. Turn them gently, and let cool for a few minutes before removing form pan. To Cook Lentils ( Dahl): Combine 1/2 cup dry red lentils with 2 cups water. Cover and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes until soft; drain. This will make about 1 cup cooked letnils.
