Hi, everyone,

I am just so excited right now. www.MissRoben.com has granola bars -

actual, real granola bars with the cakey stuff on the outside and the

fruit on the inside, like the nutrigrain bars - that are egg, gluten,

dairy, and corn (and I think nut and soy) free. My 3 year old son

absolutely LOVES them (they came today). He's been semi-eating those

nut " granola " bars from the health food store, but he's not all that

into them. They are a bit pricey at $1.49 a pop, but to me they are

worth it!

And, I found that Shaw's brand (Northeast foodstore chain) semi-sweet

chocolate chips are parve! No cross-contamination issues, and they are

$1.50 a bag!

Yippee!

Love,

Heidi, mom to

Cal, 5, stomach of steel, and

Jake, 3, celiac, corn, dairy, pollen, dust mites

and wife to Jeff, super dad and hubby

living healthy and happy in Massachusetts

Heidi,

I was excited to hear about these NutriGrain style bars. BUT, I never want to

pay the price for these and am always trying to copy them myself.

VegSource has a great lady named Chef Deb that helps me out a lot with

getting me started with copying recipes.

I asked her about it and this is what she sent to me. It is a bit different

but it is a start. I still thought about making it with the fruit in the

middle instead of just mixed together. Let me know if you try anything with

it.

Gluten-Free Nutrishin' Bars

1/2 cup chick pea flour

2 cups crispy rice cereal

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 cup granular fructose

1/8 tsp ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) powder

1 cup chopped dried apricots

1/2 cup chopped dates

1/2 cup chopped raisins

1 banana, mashed

1/2 cup almond butter

1/2 cup rice syrup

2 tsps vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients. In another

bowl, mix remaining ingredients.Mix both batches together.Press the mixture

into a greased 13 " x 9 " pan.Bake for about 20 minutes. Do not overbake.Let

cool.Cut into bars.

For packing, wrap well.
