Ohhh no! Another date recipe.

After all, I am the date QUEEN!! I love, love, love those little things. I

bought 15 pounds of them from our food co op last month. Yes, you read it

right, 15 pounds. I was tired of never getting what I ordered so I ordered a

bunch. Now the only problem is trying to keep my grubby hands out of them

several times a day. Never happens.....grin.

Especially now that I have cut out stevia and don't use other sweeteners I

have been relying on dates to make some of my food (mainly breakfast) eatable.

I have also been craving chocolate (must be hormonal) so this recipe sounds

like I NEED to make it. LOL

Carob Date Syrup

Source: Cooking with Natural Foods II

Makes: 3 cups

2 cups water

2 cups soft dates (check the dates for pits and remove!)

1/2 cup carob powder

Blend until smooth. Pour into glass quart jar and add 1 cup water (use this

to rinse out the blender). Stir well. Add 5 Tbsp. syrup to 1 cup water to

make a delicious hot or cold drink or mix 1/2 cup rice milk with 1/2 cup

water and add 4 Tbsp. carob syrup. Blend until smooth. Also use as you

would chocolate syrup. Delicious on bananas with chopped nuts sprinkled on

top.
