Guest guest
I tried the Sun Burgers and they were delicious! I made some changes to the original recipe and will put them in quotes beside the recipe as originally written. We ate these plain, with catsup, but they would also be good as a casserole with a gravy or tomato sauce. ~ LaDonna > Sun Burgers > > 4 1/2 cups hot water > 1 1/2 tsp. thyme > 5 cups quinoa flakes > 1/8 tsp. garlic powder > 1 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds > 1/4 cup minced dried onion > 5 Tbsp. liquid smoke (I did not use this) > 6 Tbsp. gf Tamari or Bragg's Aminos (I used 7 Tbsp. of Bragg's Liquid Aminos) > 1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes > 1/2 cup chopped sun dried tomatoes, optional (I did not use these) *I added: 3 Tbsp. McKay's Chicken Style Seasoning 2 Tbsp. Bill's Best Chicknish (vegan) 2 Tbsp. BIll's Beef Flavoring (vegan) > > Mix all dry ingredients together, then add liquids. Let stand for 1/2 hour > to thicken. Form into patties and bake at 350 degrees on olive oiled cookie > sheet. Bake for 35 minutes then turn over and bake 25 minutes more. These > freeze well. *I prepared a Pampered Chef stone by spraying with nonstick spray. Then I scooped the mixture using a regular ice cream scoop (makes for patties of equal size and shape). Pat down to desired thickness with spatula (or fingers). The patties are quite sticky, so I put nonstick cooking spray on my hands first. These were delicious baked; nutty and crunchy. The family thought they would be good made with walnuts also (in place of the sunflower seeds).
