Hello. I've been on a gluten free diet for about 6 months now. I noticed a

difference right away when I went off gluten (my only noticeable symptoms were;

unpleasant smelling gas and pasty stool). However, when I was tested (through

Dr. Fine), he told me that I was also reacting to Casein and yeast and eggs, so

I was doing a lot of replacing. Anyway....after a couple of weeks, my gas

started back up and I've had it just about every day since. I was so frustrated

and discouraged, but I have now figured it out. It is soy. I was replacing

milk with soymilk, butter with soy margarine, meat with tofu, yogurt with soy

yogurt, etc...AND on top of it all, I've realized that soy oil is in just about

everything (McDonalds french fries are fried in it, almost all chips are fried

in it, microwave popcorn has it, coffee creamer, candy, etc). It was funny how

it didn't dawn on me how much soy was going in, but now that I've been avoiding

it, I'm SO much better!!! I think I'll be able to tolerate it in moderation,

but I was definitely over doing it!!

I thought I would share this, just in case there is somebody out there that is

discouraged and is still looking for a cause to some persistent symptoms. I

guess it's good to remember there is more than gluten when we are dealing with

intolerances. Being aware of what's going in and when and what symptoms are

present (short term food diary) was what helped me.

I'm rejoicing that I've discovered this!!

Have a great day!

I'll just add, it's the same for me. I need to avoid soy too...

as well as the gluten and casein.
