Guest guest Posted October 9, 2002 Report Share Posted October 9, 2002 Lentil or Split Pea Soup Source: tagnet.org 1 1/2 c dry lentils or split peas or yellow split peas. 2 c cold water 1 c chopped onion 1 t oil 2 T yeast flakes or chicken-style or beef-style flavoring 1 T low sodium soy sauce Garlic, sage, cumin, dill, thyme, paprika to taste 2 1/2 c boiling water Blend or grind beans to a dry meal. Add cold water to it and stir thoroughly. Sauté` onion in oil. Mix all ingredients together and cook until thick, about 10-15 minutes. Pour into oiled cans and cover tops with plastic wrap, place in frig over night. Remove and slice.
