Guest guest
Happy Sunday Greetings! I purchased something yesterday at one of my neighborhood Middle Eastern stores, called date syrup. It looks like it has about the same consistency of maple syrup, maybe a bit thicker. Has anyone ever used this in baking or cooking? I am planning to experiment with it in baking, as an interesting sub for other liquid sweeteners. I am thinking cookies and cakes, and sweet breads. I will let you know the results! I think that it is probably alot sweeter than other types of liquid sweeteners, just because dates themselves are so very sweet. Mmmm, my thoughts are turning now to banana nut bread, made with this date syrup...Yum! Have a great weekend, Christine
Guest guest
Christine, That sounds soooo good! I LOVE dates. They are such a treat for us. Whenever I am craving something sweet I eat one with a raw almond in the middle. Yummy!!! They're so sweet, I can only eat 1, maybe 2 at one sitting. They really do satisfy my sweet craving. Have you tried the date candy that is made from only dates, coconut and almonds? I buy it from the HFS, already made. I think it would be easy to make in a food processor, as well. Happy date-eating! Christine
