Guest guest Posted July 21, 2002 Report Share Posted July 21, 2002 Mango & Pineapple Dessert Sauce Source: Indulgent Desserts, March 2000 1 - 8 oz. can crushed pineapple, drained, pureed, reserve 2 Tbsp. 1/2 - 26 oz. jar sliced mango, drained and pureed 1/2 cup margarine 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground cardamom 1 dash ground cloves 1/2 tsp. cornstarch Fresh mint sprigs - if desired Place pureed pineapple and pureed mango in 1-quart saucepan. Add margarinE, brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil (2 to 3 minutes). Meanwhile, combine reserved pineapple juice and cornstarch in small bowl; stir until dissolved. Reduce heat to low. Gradually add juice mixture to hot pineapple mixture; cook until sauce is slightly thickened (2 to 3 minutes). Serve sauce over frozen dessert or grilled pound cake.
