VEGAN PARMESAN " CHEESE "

1/2 cup sesame seeds

In a blender or food grinder, blend the sesame seeds until finely

chopped.

This will take about 10 minutes in a blender.

After blending, add the following:

1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes

2 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. onion powder

2 tsp. McKay's Chicken or Beef Style Seasoning

3 tsp. lemon juice

Pulse the blender until the mixture is coarsely mixed. Store in an

airtight

container. Sprinkle on pasta, pizzas, or salads. Freezes well.

Is Nutritional Yeast Flakes the same as Brewers yeast and can you use a

powder instead? I have tried to buy these in Australian HFS and that is all

they give me.

TIA,

Caroline

They are not the same, Caroline, but Brewer's Yeast will work. You might

have to adjust the flavorings just a bit, in case the Brewer's Yeast is

bitter. My family doesn't mind using them interchangably. . .but some do.

My oldest son, in fact, prefers the taste of Brewer's Yeast. If you use

powder, use less and adjust according to taste. . .as it is more

concentrated.

Caroline, are there 4 tsp. in an Australian tablespoon?

Thanks,

LaDonna
