Can you think of anything I can substitute in recipes so we get FLAVOR without hives? maybe a pinch of asafoetida (hing)? not too much. and i wouldn't suggest taking a big whiff of the jar. and i've been told you should store it in tightly sealed glass jars if you don't want the smell to overtake your spice cabinet. you do know that garlic is a frequent catsup ingredient, right? it can usually fall under the " spice " or " natural flavor " category. :/ ygg -- **~*~*Never underestimate a cow who can knit with her hooves*~*~**
Guest guest
I store the stinky stuff on my kitchen window ledge. It is potent even in it's plastic container. I buy it from an Indo-Asian market. It also goes by the name hing. It is often used by folks who avoid onions and garlic for personal or spiritual reasons.
