Guest guest Posted June 17, 2002 Report Share Posted June 17, 2002 Carob Syrup 1 cup carob powder 1 cup liquid sweetener of choice pinch of salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup water pinch of cloves (optional) Boil first five ingredients for 10 minutes. Be sure to stir constantly. Add cloves and simmer over low heat for an additional 3 - 5 minutes. Remove from heat (and cool) and enjoy on vegan ice cream or fruit. Keeps well if refrigerated. Delicious with soy milk to make a hot drink or as decoration for cakes or crepes. *Adapted from a recipe that calls for " honey " as sweetener.
