Guest guest
Dear List, Yesterday I went to the Drs with my 6 year old son. He is the family member with Celiac. He has been having a constant tummy ache for 2 months. So last week I took him to the Dr. and she ran a ton of tests. Well yesterday we had a follow-up appointment. One of the test she ran was an allergy test.. RAST. and it came back with a ton of food allergies 1 is weakly positive, 2 positive, 3 highly positive.. the higher the more dangerous to the child.. this was his list: Banana = 3 Corn = 2 pea, green = 1 orange = 3 peanut = 3 white potato = 3 soybean = 2 rice = 3 strawberry = 2 tomato = 3 white/navy bean = 3 and of course they tested him for all the grains under celiac.. wheat, rye, barley. oats which all came back at 3. This leaves me at my whit's end as there is nothing left in a Vegan diet for the poor boy to eat. Although I know that is not really true.. he tested negative to all eggs and dairy and meat. The only hope I have here is that there can be a lot of false positives. The problem here is we do not know the real culprit. So we have to take him off everything for three months. Then in the beginning of September we will redo the test and see what is true and what was a reaction to just being sick. So at the moment we have put him back on eggs, butter, and chicken, to ease the diet. Any suggestions or help would be highly appreciated. It just grossed me out to have to buy these things for him. But for three months I think I can hold my nose and look the other way. Thanks for reading my post, and letting me complain.. This was such a shock.. but I know that once the three month is up, his test has to come back looking better.. I really can not imagine anyone being allergic to Rice of all things.
