Guest guest
This diet is for people who have digestive problems or Sprue! Nystatin Oral Tablets (or equivalent) 2 tablets morning and 2 tablets evening - for 30 days What you can eat... Meat, Seafood Green vegetables Asparagus Beets Carrots (lots... every day!) Cauliflower Celery Cucumbers Eggplant Greens Salads (use avocado with hot sauce for dressing) Okra Onions String beans Tomato Turnips Grapefruit, lemon, green granny smith apples Eggs (soft or hard boiled, fried without breaking the yolk) Cashews, pecans (no peanuts) DRINK LOTS OF WATER ************************************************************************* ***** *************** NONE of these foods for two weeks... The doctor who does this diet says he doesn't see as good of results in those who " cheat " . NO flours of any kind (breads, muffins, chips, etc...) NO foods that have high carbohydrates -- corn, lima beans, english peas, potatoes, squash, beans, rice NO fruits (except grapefruit and lemon, granny smith apples) NO sugar - (sugar, honey, syrup, etc... - artificial sweetner in moderation.) NO processed foods NO dairy products NO condiments, sauces, vinegar-containing foods NO mushrooms NO fruit juices Plan a few menu's before going to the store and always have menu plan - this keeps you from cheating AND getting discouraged. Example: Breakfast Eggs, bacon, sausage, or pork chops and grapefruit Lunch/Supper Taco Salad with avocado for dressing (minus the chips!), Meats with a vegetable and salad (you will be sick of salads!!), hamburger pattie with onion, tomato, lettuce and avocado and grapefruit. (fruit will help satisfy sweet tooth in alot of people), chicken breasts with lemon smoothed over and chopped onions, tomatoes, peppers sauteed in butter - put on top of chicken. Snacks boiled egg, cashews, grapefruit, celery, carrots or just warm up leftovers!! This diet tends to leave you hungry a few hours after you eat. This is because putting this type foods together makes digestion very easy and gives your digestive tract a break. Any time you want more energy - use this diet!! For Sprue people: after 15 days, eat something you normally would NOT be able too. If after one day - nothing has happened - call Pizza Hut and Shipley's Donuts and C E L E B R A T E!!!! I highly recommend the book " The Yeast Connection " by Dr. William Crook, MD. This will help you know how to use diet if you don't have a problem such as Sprue. Using the above diet as a " jump start " will be helpful. Fungus is the root of most digestive disorders. The fungus lives off of sugars (carbohydrates, desserts, fruits) and molds. Therefore, it is important to leave off all sugars and " moldy " foods (cheese, mushrooms) for at least two weeks to give the fungus a chance to die. If at some point down the road your symptoms begin appearing again - do the Nystatin and diet again. Nita Bearden has the phone number of the person in Dallas that this diet is from. She highly recommends a doctor visit with him. He successfully treats Sprue and other disgestive disorders. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * The below letter is from one of many that has had sprue for years. Doctors don't believe in this diet as " sprue can't be cured " . Therefore, many won't prescribe Nystatin. But Spure IS being cured.... and we are personal living proof........ >From lhelgaas (Leanne Helgaas) Dear Cathy: Thank you so much for sending the Sprue Diet to me for Dad. As impossible as it seems, he has been able to eat wheat after being on the diet!! He is DELIGHTED, and we are all amazed that there is such a simple remedy. He spent many, many years on the gluten-free diet, so this is wonderful. Dad had a hard time finding a Dr. to prescribe Nystatin, so his homeopathic Dr. suggested that he use Citricidal, which is a natural compound made from seed and pulp of grapefruit. Like Nystatin, it is a fungicide. Citricidal is available in health food stores without a prescription. It worked great for Dad. Again, thanks for passing on the information! Best regards, Leanne Helgaas
