Here is a gluten free recipe from an Internet friend of mine who lives in

the Philippians. Someone who is proficient in metric measurements might want to

help us out here! :)

Ing:

600 g rice flour

1.2 kg radish, grated

1 cellophane sheet for lining steamer

Procedure:

- Peel and grate radish

-Place rice flour into a mixing bowl. Add in cornflour, water, and

salt. Mix well. Stir in grated radish.

i'm guessing the radish used would be daikon? it would certainly be

MUCH easier to grate. ;)

i'm picturing someone hunkered down with a pound or two of little red

radishes and a parmesano grater...

i'm not sure whether Filipinos use daikon... i've never seen it in the

filipino markets, but that doesn't mean anything. they tend to stock

stuff that the other asian markets don't, but go easy on the veggies,

since those are very easy to find in my area.

ygg, what great word pictures you've created in your post! The girl who posted

it is only 17 and trying very hard to be vegan in a world full of friends and

family who don't understand.

I too wonder exactly what type of radish she means. . .

:) LaDonna

PS: For calorie counters, instead of frying this, use a non-stick skillet and a

non-stick spray and brown on the stove. This type of thing works great when

baked in an oven also, especially if you use a baking stone.
