Guest guest Posted October 12, 2001 Report Share Posted October 12, 2001 Split Pea Soup Source: Recipes from the Weimar Kitchen 1 medium onion, chopped 1 lb. green split peas 3 quarts water 2 bay leaves 1 clove garlic 4 Tbsp. soy sauce (or Bragg's Aminos) 3 cups finely diced potatoes 1 cup chopped celery and leaves 1 tsp. salt 1/2 cup grated carrots Soak split peas for several hours. Steam onion in small amount of water. Bring peas to boil and cook, adding onions and seasoning. Cook until peas are done. Add vegetables and cook slowly until tender, about 20 minutes.
