Saute onion in olive oil in a 2 quart pan. Add 4 cups of water, cover and bring to a boil. Add rest of herbs and turn burner to low. Add dry lentil meal slowly, using a whip to keep from lumping. Cook 1/2 hour on low, watching and stirring, as it will thicken and stick if you don't stir. Pour into round plastic quart storage containers. Chill. Pop out of container, slice into patties and bake on oiled cookie sheets 15 minutes per side at 350°. Top with sliced onion, tomato and catsup, if you desire.
