Guest guest Posted February 14, 2001 Report Share Posted February 14, 2001 Split pea soup source: The new american diet system Here is a favorite soup for us, it is really cheap for us too, as split peas here are only 23 cents a pound. 2C. uncooked split peas 5C. water or more 1 bay leaf 1+ tsp. salt 2 C. chopped carrots 1C. chopped celery 1C. chopped onion 1/2tsp. thyme 1/2tsp. pepper(wait until end for this, serve Joshes first then add to everyone elses until Josh can handle spices better) 1/2 tsp. galric powder Combine dried split peas, water and bay leaf and salt ina large kettle. Bring toa boil and then reduce heat to simmer for 2 hours. Stir occasionally and check to make sure there is enough water and that the split peas t\do not stick. Add More water if it becomes to dry. Add carrots, celery, onions, and herbs.
