Guest guest
Thanks so much for your most engaging response! You made me smile bigtime this morning. Delighted that we will be hearing more from you - all those years as a vegetarian means some excellent experience you can pass on to newer members. About the kids, I stay out of such arguments because I can see both sides. EXAMPLE: *My* son was a vegetarian from toddler until he was about six or seven - his choice as soon as he was able to distinguish the taste of me*t in food. Eggs and cheese, fine. But meat? No way! And he was the *only* vegetarian in the household. When he got old enough to read a little - around three - he would go through his picture books and recite the names of the animals and say he didn't eat his friends. (He had a large stuffed animal and plastic animal collection like most kids which, an only child, he had always called 'my friends'.) Yeah, he said that. He really said it. And we knew NO vegetarians. After he'd been going to school a couple of years, he learned to eat meat - taught no doubt that that's what animals were for. He still eats meat. Whereas we're now vegetarian. Go figure. About soy: As far as I can see the jury is still out - I still say, be moderate. No need to go overboard on the stuff - we use it, but probably less than we use beans and lentils. But it would be interesting to hear other views on this.
