I believe I am going to get quite an education on this

list. I appreciate all the links to recipes and

information and words of welcome. I also saw all

those definitions in the poll and realize there are as

many definitions of veggie people as there are people.

Thanks, Judy in Maine. ps. With all those

definitions, I still had to check off other!

Perhaps <grin> but vegetarians would not count so-called pesco or pollo

vegetarians as vegetarians, remember. We do not eat animals of any kind.

However, they are often 'included' among types of vegetarians by the rest of

the world, and just for the sake of the poll added them in for the benefit of

those who might be evolving towards true vegetarianism. And for that, there

will be members here who will be quite correctly annoyed with me.

(Apologies, gang, but sometimes it's interesting to find out what other people

think. All in the interests of curiosity if not science.)

It should therefore be noted that only 5 definitions applied to vegetarians -

ovo-lacto, ovo, lacto, dietary vegan and vegan.

That's interesting - how so? What did I leave out? What else *is* there??? I

seem to remember that you are trying to lower your cholesterol and are

getting away from (though still occasionally consume) red meat but still

consume birds and/or water life. In other words, you're an omnivore, right? Or

have I missed something else? C'mon - share!!! LOL

Best, Pat

You are right, I am trying to lower my cholesterol and

feel that beef is definetely out, occasional chicken

(w/o skin) and occasional fish are in so I am almost

an omnivore, but I eat fat free dairy & egg whites

also. I am learning to cook and eat beans....my next

adventure will be into soy products to try to get my

protein count up. So I guess I am not a vegetarian,

but I admire people who are and I have begun the

journey towards that end. bit by bit or better yet,

bite by bite!. Judy in Maine.
