Guest guest
Quite a poll, eh? Not many answers - but of course it was a strange question! LOL Sometimes I wonder why I am here. I've already lost a little more than the weight I promised myself I would lose when I first joined here back when Laura started the list. Okay, okay, another ten pounds wouldn't hurt me - help me to go easy on that hip joint that's been causing strife since Day One - but in effect I'm okay now. Well within the 'correct' BMI range to boot. But I'd like to stay that way, since putting on weight wouldn't be a good idea. Also, although my reason for being a vegetarian is not for health reasons, I have no objection to the health benefits, so I like to be on a list where the food is not just good but not junky or unbalanced one way or another - your recipes inspire me. And it's good to be able to exchange chatter with other vegetarians in a world that is run by carnivores or, more politely 'omnivores'. Mainly, however, I guess I stick around because I love hearing from you all! (I'm always disappointed when longstanding members have to leave for one reason or another.) Curious am I, however, by anyone who answered 'Other' to this poll - or would have answered Other if they had remembered to vote in it. So that's my query - what 'Other' reasons for being here? Don't all write in at once, folks! LOL Best love, Pat > POLL QUESTION: Why is this one of your lists? Guest guest
Hi Pat, I think I am probably in about the same position you are. I had told myself a few years ago I needed to become more active and shed at least 20 pounds to take some load off my joints and get within the " healthy " BMI range. Depending upon the mood of the scale, I am down 25-30 pounds from when I began, and in November it will be 2 years maintaining my weight loss. I love healthy foods but also love the sweet treats, and I find it a daily challenge to continue to work at being healthy. Exercise has come easier for me, and I enjoy bicycling, walking, and time on my exercise bike. Yesterday my husband & I enjoyed a pleasant 41 mile ride on the Cannon Valley Trail here in Minnesota; we are really fortunate to have some beautiful trails both for bicycling and walking near us. I became vegetarian for other than health reasons as well, but have been happy to accept the great health benefits from my lifestyle changes as well. Today we are having brunch at a vegetarian Indian restaurant. I LOVE Indian food, and since this restaurant is all vegetarian, it is especially a treat for me. Wishing you a great day!
