Guest guest
Hi guys! Well, it's undeniable that we all live among other living creatures in our (collective) world and that sometimes our lives (and therefore deaths, sadly) intersect. One cannot cross the footpath without treading on something, even if one tries by sweeping ahead with a branch, as some religious persons do. You can avoid breathing in the tiny visible creatures by wearing a gauze mask, but might still damage a microbe. Washing/showering does that too. We all do the best we can. To be vegetarian or vegan is as Piers has described - and as other sources/websites show. If one says there are practically no 'true vegans' then that is a serious discouragement to those of us who are trying to be so. Others are not trying to be anything more or less than vegetarians, and they are also on this 'Vegetarian' list as honoured members. It is an inclusive 'vegetarian' list, after all, as someone has so wisely pointed out. It is also obvious not all are vegetarian or vegan for the same reason - we have run polls on this before. Many are one or the other for health reasons, or for reasons of birth/culture, or for philosophical reasons, or . . . Well, fill in the blank! LOL Some just don't like me*t - and that saves lives too - ours and the 'critters'.' Judgmental/critical posts are not forbidden here, but they are highly discouraged because they often turn out to be very similar to the kinds of arguments that non-vegetarians make against going vegan or vegetarian. That is to say, they often are discouraging to new (or older but wavering) vegetarians. Surely we don't want that. Now I'll get off my soapbox (best non-animal soap, of course) carefully and return to my search in the Files for a recipe for dinner. For lunch it's veggie spag bol - with, yes, wholewheat pasta.
