My name is Lene'.(Sorry, don't know how to get the accent mark over the last " e " so I use the apostrophe instead. <g>) > 2) How old are you (roughly)? I'll turn 45 in October. > 3) Where do you live (what country - what town, city or region)? I live in Iowa, about 1/2 way up the eastern edge. > 4) How long have you been a vegetarian/vegan? I'm not, yet. Have recently decided to start eating vegetarian foods all through the week, and to limit poultry to one meal a week on the weekend, as a transition to a totally vegetarian diet. We stopped eating beef or pork many years ago, but have continued to eat fish and poultry til now. My husband (Jeff) and son (Danny, age 19) are both comfortable with this change, but it is at their request that we continue to have poultry once a week for now. We do eat dairy products, and the occasional egg, and won't be changing that, so will not be vegan at any point, although there are plenty of vegan recipes we enjoy. > 5) What is your favourite (vegetarian) food or meal? Well, we all love pasta. Jeff is ex-AF, and we spent a few years in Italy, so we grew to love good pasta. Luckily, there are many ways to prepare it that are both veggie and reasonably low in fat. We also like spicy foods, and enjoy Mexican dishes and spicy Middle eastern dishes. > 6) How did you find this group? Random searching on when I decided to switch to vegetarian meals for most of our diet. Since I'm also trying to slim down, and think low fat foods will help in that respect, this seemed like a wonderful group to join. > 7) Is there anything specific you want to get out of the group? Hmmm. Ideas for recipes and for general vegetarian cookery, and the opportunity to give and receive support. I hope my weekend meal of poultry (at least for a while) won't prove to be barrier to my membership in the group -- I only mention it in this intro so as to be completely up-front with you about what my diet is like currently. I won't be talking about eating poultry/meat after this intro, and won't ever post messages that are " rah rah, let's all eat meat " or that include recipes that aren't vegetarian. > 8) Tell us a few of your favourite things. Reading is top of the list, especially science fiction and fantasy. I also love to crochet, and I make beaded jewelry. Nice to be here! Guest guest
Welcome Lene.' I am new too but I think you will love it here. Wonderful people. I know that many people slowly wean themselves from meat, poultry and dairy products. You are well on your way to living a healthy life. From what I have read, you will all make it. It is great to have the support of your family.
