Guest guest
Is protein powder a dairy product made from whey? I have been trying to make the transition from vegetarian to vegan but I am having a hard time with the many foods that dairy or its byproducts seems to hide in. Any vegans with weight training experience out there? Where do you get your extra protein from? Are their vegan protein supplements available? Guest guest
I found a protein supplement without any dairy or soy products which I am fond of. It is made by Naturade and is called Soy-Free Veg protein Booster. I just came from my doctors office and she has confirmed my allergy of Soy. We were trying to figure out what my rash was caused by and since I am keeping a food diary we figured it out. She has put me on calcium, actually two Tums a day, and a multi vitamin with iron as I am anemic. I am also getting a Thyroid test and blood sugars done as well. Since I have lost so much weight so quickly she is concerned. She also wants me to eat more calories. Well that was a nice switch. Try our Links section, looking in the folder titled 'Health, Nutrition and Fitness Information' - it has links especially for athletes, for example, and several links to articles that discuss protein - protein for vegans. etc. etc. Maybe that will help to answer the question about 'extra protein' ;=) Good luck! And yes, there are or at least used to be vegans with weight training experience on this list! Best, Pat
