Carole,

welcome to the group. Its nice to have you here. The reason you are trying to

cut down on/remove meat from your diet really doesn't matter here - so don't

worry. As Pat says we are all different. In fact i initially went veggie for

health reasons but now i'm vegan for ethical ones. I'll have to have a think

about your diet situation - it sounds tricky and you really do have my

sympathies. Have you looked into the diets these guys recommend?

Neal Barnard http://www.nealbarnard.org/

Dean Ornish webmd.com/content/pages/9/3068_9408.htm

John McDougall http://www.drmcdougall.com/

I'm afraid i don't know how these fit your diet requirements as i haven't tried

them myself but these are the three main guys when it comes to weight loss on a

veggie diet and all 3 have written books about it.

Pat's response was much what i was thinking - try looking into seitan and meat

alternatives - they're yummy. Trust us! ;)

I'm sorry i can't be more helpful right now but the best ideas usually pop into

my head at the most unexpected moment so you never know - i might get inspired!

Hope to talk more soon,

Hi Laura,

Thanks for your email. I have tried some of the Morningstar " meats " and didn't

really care for them. I can't handle meats too well, they upset my stomach. I

think it's probably because I don't chew them enough. I am supposed to chew

protein until it is mush before I swallow it.

This is why I want to get protein from a source other than meat. Even fish will

do it to me if I don't chew it for long enough. Sometimes eating is very hard

and not enjoyable any more; BUT, I would do it all over again in a heart beat!

It's not for everybody and regardless of popular beliefs, it is NOT an easy way

to lose weight.

I have heard of Dean Ornish but didn't realize he was about vegitatianism. I am

going to check out the links you sent. Thanks.
