Guest guest
I am getting a juicer this Christmas as a present. I was wanting in advance to get some ideas. Does anyone have any good " recipes " for drinks or any other ideas on things to use this for. I am sure that I can think of some things, but some help would be much appreciated. I was looking for some sort of breakfast or lunch type drink that isn't too much sugar but high in all the good antioxidants, etc. that veggies give us. Thanks Jamie The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. -- Gandhi Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more. Manage less. Guest guest
Best investment I made next to the high priced juicer [5 bucks at Goodwill] was a 50 cent hard back at the local library called The Juiceman's Power of Juicing by Jay Kordich. Love it. Love his recipes too. He gives some great advice. I would have paid full price for this book and his advice. Our favorite simply because it is just plain good [and healthy] is Cholesterol Lowering Cocktail. One serving is 8 oz. 5 carrots 1/2 apple {I use a whole small tart} 1/2 inch of gingerroot Handful of Parsley Trim carrots and cut to 3 in pieces. Cut apple into wedges. Slice ginger if needed. Process carrot, apple, ginger and parsley in juicer. Anti-virus Cocktail 2 apples 1 orange Peel the orange leaving as much white pith as possible. Break into segments. Cut apples into wedges. Process. San Francisco Fog cutter [great blood purifier] 3 Golden Delicious or other sweet apples 8 strawberries Process the fruit AAA juice 3 Carrots 1 stalk celery 1 apple 1/2 beet with greens [watch it.. IT stains but then so does the carrot] 1/2 handful wheatgrass 1/2 handful parsley Cut into processing size. Begin and end with carrots and celery pieces. Body Cleanser 2 to 3 carrots 1/2 cucumber 1/2 beet with greens Trim carrots and cut into pieces. Cut cuke into quarters and then into strips. Cut beet into narrow wedges. Process. 1/2 a Zucchini can be used instead of the cuke for a different cleansing cocktail.

Guest guest
You can juice almost anything. The only problem would be " gummy " fruits and veggies. Picture trying to juice a banana. They are better in the blender. A nice firm tomato could be juiced. Soft you want to eat. He covers all this in the book. You can also juice potatoes and yams. The book covers the health side of the juice as well. Except for a couple exceptions tho he recommends using veggies with veggies and fruit with fruit. Among the exceptions is his " bases " Apple and carrot. Be warned they will taste nothing like the " canned " stuff of stores. I just made O.J. tonight and it is not orange clear. It should be white-ish frothy. Very sweet tasting. [Carrot will knock you over with it's sweet taste. You will have to cut it.] Leave as much of the white pith on the orange as you can when you peel it. He also recommends cutting any green juices [lettuce, parlsey etc..] with another juice. Only 1/4 of your glass should be green juice. I agree. First time I tried it I didn't cut it and I spent a LOT of time in the bathroom. [i also made the cholestrol one but I tossed in some celery too for a change.] Note he also recommends organic veggies as the best. I know I have found them to be sweeter than the regular store ones. As I said a GREAT book. , Jamie Albright <jamiea_26> wrote: > Thanks for the tips I appreciate it I can't wait to try them out soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > Could you make your own tomato juice this way too, maybe with summer time tomatoes? Guest guest
Sigh.. that didn't make sense... On painkillers for a dry tooth socket right now and I am not sure which I hate more but prob the pain wins so I'll take the pills. I wanted to say I made the OJ and the cholestrol juice tonight but tossed the celery into the colestrol mix for a nice change. BTW he recommends you " chew' the juice by swirling it in your mouth before you swollow to allow the stomach to kick in digesting. , " amysauntjo " <amysauntjo> wrote: > [i also made the cholestrol one but I tossed in some > celery too for a change.] >
