There's been a High Fiber study done by the US Agricultural Research

Service which shows that it may improve our health or deter poor health in

more ways than we had originally thought. Me, I always figured whole grains

etc. were good for the nutrients and the bowel (which of course they are) - and

I had read that oats in particular were good and lowered cholesterol as well. A

bonus package there! Well, this study has more good news for us. Read on - I

won't post it all here, but there's a link to the rest.

Best, Pat ;=)

People who eat at least three or more servings of whole-grain foods

each day may lessen their chances of developing " metabolic syndrome, "

according to a study funded by the Agricultural Research Service.

Metabolic syndrome is a condition marked by a combination of

abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, poor blood sugar control, low

HDL " good " cholesterol and high blood fats. The constellation of

health conditions increases the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes

and heart disease.

The findings are based on. . .
