Guest guest
This is going to be my first winter in a cold climate as a vegetarian. I think that I can get by with soups that have lots of veggies in them and other things that I normally have anyway, but my problem is I love crackers in soup. And even though I use whole wheat crackers I still find that they are noticable on the waist line pretty fast! Does anyone have any ideas for a substitue? Maybe a cracker that is low carbs and fat some thing that won't cancel out all the goodness of the veggies in the soup??? Guest guest
Hi Jamie, I also will be staying in a cold climate this winter. Have lots of rice, wild rice, oatmeal, pasta plus much canned vegetables, beans etc. as I am in the woods. I have been vegan for around four years and waist wise have gone from a 38 waist to a 34 waist. When I was an on and off vegetarian ( the two years before) I really got carried away on cheese ( especially cheese pizza) and never could drop the weight. It's weird how combinations can work but I like crackers alot also in soup and haven't had a problem with using alot. Sometimes I'll even take wheat toast and crumble it up. Not sure but it could be something else in combination with the crackers that makes you feel overly stuffed. May not be much help here but am just trying to throw an idea or two out here. Also think that once we able to get the cholesterol levels down from being free of fatty meats our systems work a whole lot more efficient. Good to have some kind of soy in the diet ( veggie burgers, tofu spaghetti etc.). Replacing dairy products with calcium fortified vanilla soy milk and also calcium fortified orange juice worked well for me as over the period of a couple years I lost 30 lbs without even trying. Then again maybe it was just that I did get overly carried away on the cheese, also fair amount of ice cream even though I had given up the meat. . Fresh fruit has to be the best as far as sweet stuff goes however there are a whole lot of vegetarian cookie and pie recipes. Let's enjoy the hot soup for the winter climate that is just around the corner. Ross Jamie Albright wrote: >This is going to be my first winter in a cold climate as a vegetarian.
