A pie " isn't the same " if it is not on a lard crust. Stuffing " isn't the same " if it doesn't have sausage in it. The list goes on and on. Megan had to hear me whine about this last year but last Christmas, my husband's eldest made the pie for dessert. She had cut-out on top of maple leaves and it looked really pretty. She wanted me to " taste " one of the cinnamon sugar " cookies " and shoved one in my mouth while I had my hands full. You can imagine how upset and disappointed I was when I said to her, " Are these made with lard. " And she laughed saying that was the only good way to make stuff like that. I was upset for a long time about her trying to " trick " me. That's what I have to deal with. Infantile trickery. Stef
Guest guest
Good grief, Stef - That's not trickery, that's assault! :=( How old do you say this infant is??? Yours in love and sympathy, Pat ;=) >and shoved one in my mouth while I had my hands full. You can imagine > how upset and disappointed I was when I said to her, " Are these made > with lard. Guest guest
>>>And she laughed saying that was the only good way to make stuff like that. That's just sooo rude. You have my sympathies, Stef. Could you make your own pies & cookies & (heh heh) *say* that you used lard to see if they can tell the difference? ((HUGS)) My mom just hosted a hospital party where there were some strict vegetarians & vegans. I gave her some suggestions but not sure what the final menu was. I'll have to ask.
