Guest guest
Okay...since we're on this subject anyways, I have been wondering lately if when an ingedients label says " flavoring " could that be from some kind of meat product? My example would be regular gravy mixes. There is this peppercorn one that I just adore and it says " flavoring " . What does that mean exactly? " Unfortunately, it can mean ANYTHING at all, since the government agency in charge (USDA or maybe FDA, depending on the food category) does not differentiate between plant and animal based ingredients. By law all kinds of lesser amounts of ingredients do not have to be listed at all. The only way to truly know what you are eating is to cook from scratch yourself. I don't let myself get all worked up about minor ingredients since the main push is to reduce demand for animal flesh. In my imagined ideal world, if people were not eating animal parts, these other ingredients would be changed to plant sources.
Guest guest
I am so glad it doesn't matter to you what the flavoring is. That is a huge burden lifted, but some of us are not so lucky. I get sick from even at little meat. Some times I get sick and the ingredients didn't list anything meat oriented and I just have to wonder. To bad you can't just believe things are what they say.
