Guest guest Posted October 3, 2004 Report Share Posted October 3, 2004 Welcome Aurora, Val, Karen, Audrey, Margaret and Jay ;=) Welcome to these new members who have recently introduced themselves - and of course to those of you who are still playing shy ;=) (come one, say hello - we're friendly!) I hope you enjoy Vegetarian Health and Slimming - it's a friendly group and we are all interested in keeping our weight down and our health, well, healthy! Recipes here are low-fat, or should be, and the trend of the list is to encourage good nutrition and exercise to go with a reduced portion diet. There are some absolutely wonderful recipes in the Files (have a look!), and if there is anything special you are looking for and don't see it, just ask. Someone will have a recipe, I am sure. So if you are a longtime vegetarian, like me, or a new vegetarian, please feel free to ask questions and/or to jump into the chatter - or start a thread of your own. Just a word: This is a vegetarian list - no meat at all or meat byproducts. But recipes may include eggs, dairy and honey. Some of us, myself included, do try to keep all three items at a minimum for the following health reasons: - honey because it's fattening, eggs because they have cholesterol and dairy likewise. Some members are vegan, others tending towards veganism. Recipes are marked according to ovo, lacto, ovo-lacto, or vegan. So have a look around the website, check out the Links as well as the recipes in the Files, sneak a look at some photos. And then let's hear from you! Again, welcome!
