I just had to do an intro as a moderator of our local freecycle group (recycle

anything -- free only -- post on )

The questions were more in depth, but I am an open book so here ya go:

Moved here (Carter Lake in Rocky Mountains) over ten years ago and married right

here in the meadow, Gary is his name, but since I go by the nickname " ducks "

online, most folks know him as The Drake. I am 52, that was and is my first and

only

marriage. We are quite a couple.

I am a hermit. I prefer to live among the wildlife and haven't ventured off the

mountain for a long time. I have many many

children that aren't two legged mammals... mine are ducks and geese that I hand

raised, and two bassets and a cocker spaniel. I rescue Bassets, currently have

Reba, the eternal shadow, and Lucy-you-got-some-splainin-to-do! Gary has

survived many a basset with me while still remaining faithful to his Cocker,

Chuckie.... who is becoming more and more basset like as he ages.

Gary has been an ooutdoorsman all his life (a native!) and can name everything

growing, knows where the eagles nests are and where the fox lives, and brought

me beauty when he came into my life.

I have been a professional student while earning the funds to support that

habit. I worked for many years as a photographer, went on to work as a

victim's advocate for City and County of Denver and then specifically for

battered women who were disabled by domestic violence or women with disabilities

who were abused by partner or caregiver.

I also ran a volunteer service out of the house where I placed pets with vets

and volunteers so that women and families could flee to battered women's

shelters or homeless shelters. I engaged a group of veterinarians and then

offered my legal work and research to the Coalition for the Homeless and the

Dumb Friend's League so they could continue the work. All in all, over ten

years of that kind of day in, day out. Quit doing that work in a burn-out --

after the acquittal of a famous football star who was on trial for murder.

I have studied Eastern art and language and have followed the teachings of the

Tao te Ching since I was 12. I send out a daily meditation as well, and it is

archived on my website. I spend my day in a " waking " meditation toward peace

and run a list serve to people who wish to receive news from alternative

sources. I spend about 10 hours a day working this and find it is my one way to

continue my path of working toward peace. I live my life in spiritual following.

I am originally from the Black Hills and moved to the area in 1968 to get

assistance from National Jewish Hospital for a lifelong illness. I now live

with the side effects of the drugs they gave to keep me alive and have surpassed

everyone's expectations of " she might make it to live through her teens, but not

much more than that. " I am stubborn.

As a hermit, I love to ramble but of course, the news doesn't stop and the clock

is ticking. Got to get into the web mail and will be glad to meet you all soon.

And I do love people! I just prefer the mountainside...

OH, and for the vege group, I live with a man who does eat meat and does the

shopping... so anyone with ideas please help. I cannot use the kitchen --

inaccessible... so he tries his best to help me.

my best to all,

lisbeth

PS My noted saying is

" I don't eat your family;

Please don't eat mine. "
