Guest guest
Hi Nancy- I haven't lost any weight yet, but I also have a problem with carbs....being that I eat too many of them...I would like to lose 60 lbs which is STILL above what "they" say my weight should be but I'd be happy with it, I have been vegan for about 5 mos now and I just joined a gym which all in all has stopped my headaches, cleared up certain health problems I had, my allergies have slowed down to almost gone and overall I just FEEL healthier! I really need to stop eating so many carbs and find new and EASY ways to cook veggies, soys and other things. I also have to make sure I get in my protein and vitamins, I'm such a slacker when it comes to taking my vitamins and I was doing well on Dr Fuhrman's "Eat To Live" diet, but it just became SO boring I couldn't endure it any longer. I'm also a terrible cook so I'm hoping to get better at it. I made tofu cutlets last night, but fried them and I've got to start baking them so I can cut out some fat too. Anyhow I'm rambling at this point. Kick bum Nancy, that is GREAT I'm glad im here, getting some motivation and great recipes! And meeting new wonderful people. -Rebecca Check out Linus Lucy's Playground Check out Compassionate Planet Help stop animal cruelty at PETCO stores: Read and sign the petition (email me for more info) Friends. Guest guest
Rebecca....one easy thing to do to help cut carbs is to switch to whole grain products. Whole grain pasta, (wheat or rice) is a good way to start. Whole grain breads, pumpernickel, 12 grain and oat breads are all good, but be sure that they are whole grain. Whole grain cereals, and crackers are good too. Kashi brand makes a wonderful whole grain cracker that's good to snack when feeling the need to crunch something. Remember, carbs are the bodies fuel so you do need them and making the switch to whole grain adds fiber that you need too! You will feel TONS better even if you do just this one thing! Once I went through the sugar withdraws, it was easy to eat just whole grain products. When I think now of eating processed, sugar or salt loaded foods, I almost get nauseated! It took me nearly a month to not crave the sugars anymore, but once it was gone, it was gone, and I have so much energy now. I couldn't take an afternoon nap if I wanted to! Nancy p.s. veggie hash is just about any veggie you can think of or want to use, sautéed in the skillet, sorta like a stirfry, only without the sauce. - Rebecca Wednesday, June 09, 2004 2:15 PM weightloss & health (GO NANCY!)
