Guest guest
Well, I made this last evening and it is very tasty! I used whole wheat flour like Pat does but the one difference (since I'm not vegan and had no soy milk in the house) is that I use skim milk instead of the soy milk. I worked out the values if anyone is interested. Mind you, this is with the skim milk. Since it is such a hearty bread and very easy to slice thin, I worked it out for 16 servings. Here goes: 1 serv.= 115.18 Cals, .59 fat, 24.94 Carbs, 2.82 Fiber, 3.66 protein and for those on weight watchers 2 pts. This really is not bad considering that fact that it is all wholefoods and good for you. That is of course if you don't eat half the loaf with butter at one sitting :0) I give it two thumbs up! Guest guest
Yes, I think it is a *great* and easy recipe too ;=) Love the book it came from. And of course, if one doesn't follow a vegan diet, then cow's milk, whole or skimmed, is obviously just fine! ;=) It's a lighter bread - in texture, I mean - if one uses all-purpose flour or a mix of the two, a-p and ww, but not enough to justify giving away all the good things in whole wheat flour in my view. You can use a little less molasses too if that is a consideration, but you need some for flavour and colouring at least! Thanks too for the nutritional info. I never know how to do that without getting a headache! best, pat ;=) , " steffdav46 " <steffdav46> wrote: > Well, I made this last evening and it is very tasty!
