I'd give a recipe for the soup except that I don't follow one. I usually just toss some sunflower seeds in with veggie broth, can of steamed tomatos, can of black or kidney beans, squeeze of lemon juice, hot sauce {thai chili sauce is good, as is Scorned Woman and Tabasco is a perrenial favorite} and spices {the usual suspects are garlic, basil, cilantro, pepper, maybe a little ginger} and let it simmer while I chop whatever veggies I happen to have handy in the fridge. If there's okra in the freezer, I add that with the sunflower seeds. Then I add the mix of veggies when they're all chopped and barley if I'm not cooking rice to go with or plan to eat it with bread. When everything's tender, I turn off the heat and add a can of corn, undrained because a little extra broth never hurts. It's never quite the same twice. ~Helyn Highwater Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?
