Welcome Barbara, I hope you find this group to be helpful and

enjoyable. I too have a cat, named Hush. She is SUCH a lil rascal!

Just today she pulled & ate a tulip out of a vase in the kitchen. She

also gnarled up one of hangers. It's a good thing I'm a vegetarian :P

Shara,

I dont check my blood sugar for health reasons, but I try to keep

mine as stable as possible to control cravings. Below is some info

I've read that has helped me.

Try to consume brown rice instead of white & eat whole grain/wheat

breads in place of white bread. These haven't been stripped of their

fiber and thus, cause less of a sugar rush. You may also want to

comsume fruits & vegetables lower on the glycemic index. For example,

rarely eat corn, white potatoes, and beets. Ironically, sweet

potatoes rank lower on the glycemic index than white potatoes. As far

as fruit goes, try to eat berries, apples, and oranges instead of

bananas, pineapple, or watermelon. If you're already eating foods on

the lower spectrum of the glycemic index, maybe someone else on the

board will have some suggestions.

readings are out of whack -- I guess from the higher emphasis on

grains. I even gained a couple of pounds this week. I'm already

taking meds twice daily to help control them. Has anyone else

experienced this?
