Guest guest
Hi Nette, This reply may have come too late. I'm assumming that you are concerned about lacking certain nutrients/vitamins in your diet since recently converting to vegetarianism. I know when I first became a veggie 6 year ago, I certainly wasn't eating as healthy as I do now. I ate alot of cheese, which isn't very good for you considering all the saturated fat. I'd just tell your doc that you recently became a vegetarian and would like him/her to run some blood work on you to make sure you're getting what you need. Honestly, if your doctor cannot determine what to test for after receiving such information I'd switch doctors. Really tho, as long as you're eating a wide range of food that includes soy products like tofu stuff(complete protein), grains, vegs, and fruit you should be healthy and even more so than eating a meat based diet b/c you shouldn't be consuming as many saturated fats. For the most part, I eat well but try to take a multi-vitamin everyday to cover the bases. In fact, when I go in to have a check-up the nurses are always astounded by how good my cholesterol levels are. I tell them, well I'm vegetarian!! Guest guest
Thanks so much for that. I was really concerned about the B12 and Amino Acids and all the other horror stories you hear about vegetarians. My doctors visit is on the 30th. I really appreciate the info.bluetulipz <bluetulipz wrote: Hi Nette,This reply may have come too late.
