Guest guest Posted April 7, 2003 Report Share Posted April 7, 2003 hello everyone. my name is danielle and i have been a vegetarian for 8 years. i would really like to start eating better, but i have a hard time depriving myself. i believe everything is good in moderation, and i really do not overindulge. however, i really would like to lose some weight (about 15-20 lbs.) i have no problems maintaining my weight, it's losing it i have trouble with. i also have a hard time with " diets " that tell you exactly what to eat everyday. i despise supplements, beause i don't think they truly work, and i've even tried to give up dairy, but that never works for very long. in short, i'm a pain in the you-know-where when it comes to weight loss, but i still won't give up. any advice? My thoughts are, if you have been maintaining your weight and eat healthfully, you don't NEED to lose weight. Perhaps this is where you are at. I would recommend a focus more towards exercise and strength training as opposed to "dieting." (dieting never works) Start out with walking and go from there. Find out what your BFI is (from a doctor, at school, or at the gym) --try to eliminate the fat as opposed to the weight. Eliminate one unnecessary food item at a time (I eat my bread without margarine and baked potatoes with lemon juice--an acquired taste, but I gotta do it or I'll gain weight) I have not weighed myself for over 5 years; I've always weighed more than I look and it freaks me out. Not even for the doctor. I can tell when I've gained a little when my clothes are tighter. ~Laura ********************* If it's meant to be, It will be.
