Guest guest
I highly recommend Allison's method of baking fries in the oven. They are great this way and really provide that french fry fix. Some things I do as well is just brush a little olive oil on the cut up potatoes and I actually use less oil w/o sacrificing the flavor... but it's so much easier just to put them in a ziploc bag. Allison was right on about playing w/ the temperature..I've had to adjust the temp every time I've moved. Spices I put on them after coating w/ oil: I like sprinkling about a 1/4th tsp. of seasoning salt, garlic powder, & pepper and prob about an 1/8th tsp. of tumeric and chili powder. The tumeric is great b/c it gives the potatoes a golden, buttery-looking appearance. I think less is best esp. concerning the seasoning salt. The above listed measurements are not exact since I just shake the ingredients. Also, I usu use 3 medium-size golden potatoes. For sweet potato fries, which I really enjoy, i just sprinkle w/ salt, pepper and garlic powder. I think the garlic powder is essential in that it seems to really compliment the sweet potatoes' sweetness. karen
