Guest guest Posted May 1, 2001 Report Share Posted May 1, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * NANCY'S HOMEMADE POWER BARS Recipe By : Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Desserts Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cup loosely packed brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar 3/4 cup margarine or butter 1 egg or vegan equivalent 1/4 cup soy milk or water 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 cups quick or old fashioned oats 1 cup unbleached white flour 1 teaspoon salt (optional) 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 12 ounces chocolate chips (vegan -- if desired) Cooking spray or oil 1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a food proces- sor, combine sugars and margarine. Process until creamy. Add egg, soy milk, and vanilla. Process, scraping down sides as needed, until well blended. 2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together oats, flour, salt, and baking soda. Add wet mix- ture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. 3. Spray or oil a 9 x 13-inch baking sheet. Spread mixture evenly onto prepared sheet. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until edges are browned and top is golden.
